Buckeye Mela, A History.
Founded by the Indian American Association in 2008, a couple of students with some great ideas and a big dream set out to create history. Not knowing how far this could go or where this would lead, none of them knew how truly great this event was about to become. Joining forces with the Indian students Association and the South Asian Students Association in 2009 Buckeye Mela went on to become the largest South Asian event that The Ohio State University has ever seen.
In the past six years, we have succeeded in celebrating to the full extent what South Asian culture really means. Combining culture tradition and charity, Buckeye Mela has raised over $20,000 for the local community and our community back home in India. Our beneficiaries have included the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and the James Comprehensive Cancer Center here at OSU.
